time to take time / be still

be still 2389New Years Greetings.

Two new songs (with vocals yet to come) for the new year – all about taking time out, being still, time reflecting, time in prayer, time with God. Inspired by two scripture passages:

Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.  Luke 1:35

“Be still, and know that I am God” Psalm 46:10a

Be Still is a simple 8 bar reflective/responsive piece based on the Psalm 46 words. It can be done with a group/congregation in one, two or four parts; with optional accompaniment.  I reckon it would work best a cappella. The piece could be sung over and over, as many times as suits.

Time to Take Time comes out of the Luke 1:35 and has a light country swing about it.  It started out as a children’s song, but now I feel it’s more in the “child-friendly” department. When played this all needs to be understated.  Vocally, the last verse is mostly hummed.

Enjoy!

Time to take time
Take time with Jesus
Time to take time
knowing God’s there
Time to take time
Take time with Jesus
Time to take time
and take time with him

Time to take time
Time to be praying
Time to take time
talking with God
Time to take time
Time to be praying
Time to take time
for praying to him

Time to take time
Time for some stillness
Time to take time
for quietness with God
Time to take time
Time for some stillness
Time to take time
for stillness with him

(Hum tune … )
Time to take time
and take time with God.
