On Earth in Our Day – a song for peace

Have I blogged this one before? Doesn’t matter. (and forgive me, if you’ve already received a post with this song).peace
With the events these past days in Paris, Beirut, Syria, Palestine and so many other places (often not receiving media coverage), we pray for peace and the end to all violence.  This song says it better than any prose I could offer right now.

On Earth in Our Day dates back over 10 years; my response towards the National Council of Churches (in Australia’s) Decade of Overcoming Violence Project. It’s inspired by the Beatitudes of Christ.

I leave it with you as my song … my deep prayer.

Blessed the one who
hungers for peace
struggles for freedom…
that wars would all cease
Blessed the faithful
who live as they pray:
the blessings of heaven
on earth in our day

In Jesus, the promise:
division no more
No matter our race, gender:
one in our Lord
As brothers and sisters
may peace be our way:
The blessings of heaven
on earth in our day

Pray that Christ’s peace
would reign in our hearts
As body of Christ:
as our end and our start
And live in God’s longing
each moment, we pray:
the blessings of heaven
on earth in our day

La-la-la-la-la-
la-la-la-la-la …
As brothers and sisters
May peace be our way:
The blessings of heaven
On earth in our day
