Uluru sunset

Hi

Yesterday we finally met up with Diana & Dan – two of Dale’s siblings and their spouses Tom and Betty-Jean – the Apollo Campers depot at Alice Springs.

By 12 all six of us were on our way to Uluru … to Ayers Rock Campground at Yulara, our base for the next two nights.

It was. longdrive; the first of many before us. About 150 km down the quite-reasonable road, Dan passed the driving over to me … with all the warnings of road trains. To my only- partial disappointment, I passed none. Dan resumed the driving for the last 100 km or so into Yulara.

No sooner checked in, we drive out, as did at least 100 others towards Uluru, to check out the beautiful sunset on Uluru, the rock.

It was quite awe- inspiring; this sacred monolith rising out of the desert landscape. We stayed there some time, before driving back in the dark to the campground for dinner – Dan cooked the beef patties; Diana & Tom organized the rest.

Then it was sleep time. ‘Interesting ‘would be an understatement. This Motorhome might sleep six (& did reasonably well) but from less than 24 hours experience, four is probably the optimum number. Squeezy is the word.

Looking forward to our second day here.
Cheers
David
