Hubbard Glacier – amazing!

It’s close to midday here and I can’t hold off blogging about what we’ve just taken in … the edge of the Hubbard Glacier.

Quite a contrast, the last 12 hours. The late night Eagles tribute concert was good entertainment with good musicianship, but I missed the harmonies of the real thing.

Got to sleep @ midnight; waking to the feel … first time on cruise … of our ship swaying with the waves … yes, we’re on the open seas for the first time.

By about 9.30 we were approaching the glacier. It is a sight to behold, and the boat was SOOO close. Amazing. Such an expanse of ice, and we were just at the ocean edge of it. We stayed there about 2 hours, before heading south – tomorrow we’re at Alaska’s capital Juneau all day … and another glacier, the Mendenhall.

Kinda loving this!
