the glory of God … Pentecost song

Hi.

A few weeks ago, as I walked along Trinity Beach in Cairns (one of my most-favourite of spots) the essence of a Pentecost/Holy Spirit song came to me.  Yes – I was supposed to be taking time-off (and did!) but the Spirit got the better of me.

However – my songwriting that morning was not so much along the lines of Acts 2, but inspired by the words of Paul:

The Lord and the Spirit are one and the same, and the Lord’s Spirit sets us free. So our faces are not covered. They show the bright glory of the Lord, as the Lord’s Spirit makes us more and more like our glorious Lord.
2 Corinthians 3:17-18

The song that ensued picked up on this, and using the amazing GarageBand app on the iPhone, I basically wrote the song that morning.  A few weeks later, I’ve scored it and done what I think is a half-decent backing track.  Thinking of using it this coming Pentecost Sunday (we’ll see).  I’m really happy with it.  See what you think.  The chorus follows an 8-bar intro on the backing (though four bars on the music score).

To the glory of God …

Blessings, David

The Glory of God (Pentecost Song)     music score  backing track mp3

Oh …
Holy Spirit
Holy Spirit
Come Holy Spirit, bring your freedom
Ever shining,
ever-refining
Ever flowing
– the glory of God

With the Spirit there’s comfort
With the Spirit there’s joy
With the Spirit there’s love and hope
and life, in God

Oh … Holy Spirit, Holy Spirit …

Living hand of creation
Gifting hand of grace
Joining hand of unity
through time and space

 Oh … Holy Spirit
Holy Spirit
Come Holy Spirit, bring your freedom
Ever shining, ever-refining
Ever flowing – the glory of God
Ever burning – the glory of God
Ever blowing – the glory of God
