on the oz worship songs scrounge

Dale and I look forward to leading an elective featuring contemporaryAustralian worship songs- at Wesley Music Centre’s 3rd National Seminar on Music & Word in Worship – mid October.

We look forward to this- it’s an honour actually.  But also a challenge.  You see, most Australian churches (at least those I’m familiar with) are so limited iun both their choice and use of Australian material. Many will sing the latest and greatest from Hillsong.  A few will delve into the Robin Mann back catalogue. Those in the know will use contemporary hymns from Elizabeth Smith … and there are a small range of “known” writers.  yes, some will use my material.

This is where you perhaps come in.  I’m keen to hear from readers of the blog, some Australian titles (sorry, that does not mean N.Z.).  This elective will tap into a varietyof styles – traditional, rock, folk, choral, jazz/blues etc. I’d love to hear from a few people out there.  A portion of our presentation will be some Advent/Christmas songs. My own Celebrate Emmanuel will probably get an airing.
