I’m still standing … and moving

David photo 2008Seems like ages (it is!) since I last blogged … so with all sorts of things happening at present … or shortly too, I figured that there’s no time like the present to fill anyone interested with a few things. Here goes …

  • my wife Dale and I, along with our 21-year-old son Jeremy head o/s to the States in 9 days time – who’s counting, mainly to spend time with Dale’s family there.  Big family reunion in Nashville.  Yes, just got to make it to the Opry (we’re staying just a K or two away).  Just happens that Alison Krauss is appearing on the night we’re going).  It will be great catching up and great for Jeremy to both catch up with the rellies and do some travelling of his own.  NYC and Toronto are in his sights.  Dale wants to clothes shop (ask her about Gabriel’s some time), while I’d love to come back with a not-too-expensive mandolin.  If only that reasonable-sized song royalty cheque would come.
  • the BIG news is that Dale and I move on from Indooroopilly Uniting Church at the end of the year.  It will be sad to go – we’ve been blessed and privileged to be involved in helping establish a range of pastoral, missional, worship, youth, kids and missional initiatives.  Made some good, supportive friendships.  That said, I know God’s calling me on to a wider sort of congregational ministry – broader than my current (primarily) evening service base.  Oxley-Darra Uniting Church, about 10 minutes drive away is the one.
  • and amid all this, I’m currently working on a song for our Lero Stadio creative arts worship service this Sunday night.  It’s tentatively called Body and soul.  I’ll blog it down the track some time.

That’s all for now. Blessings

David
